Eames Chair

by

I just moved into my apartment last week and got all my furniture except for a chair. I didn't like the chairs I saw at Ikea and definitively didn't want to buy a cheap plastic office chair at Office Depot or Staples so I waited. I looked on Craigslist every day for a week until I came a cross a chair that caught my eye. It was an Eames Aluminum Group inspired chair. A quick search of the price tag of the fakes were anywhere between $200 and $400 and the real ones going for $1800. The guy was looking for $75, but I talked him down to $45 and picked it up in Cardiff yesterday.

I was really excited get this chair so I shared my enthusiasm with my roommates and some friends, but they all said why get excited a chair is a chair. I've learned to appreciate good design and the thought that goes into it. Eames designs are now more than 50 years old and are still contemporary. Beautiful. Functional. Comfortable.

"The final design answered with what the Eames' called, way it should be-ness."
