My Childhood

by

Lychee ice cream from the Sweet Booth in the Renaissance Plaza in Oakland. If there was one food that could sum up my childhood it would be this. I have fond memories of carrying groceries for my grandmother while she shopped in Chinatown. The reward would always be a cup of ice cream to be enjoyed on the benches by the fountain. The lychee flavor is the one I would always choose. It has a very intense lychee flavor and small chunks of the fruit. Over the years I've bought lychee flavored ice cream from countless other places, but it usually just tastes like vanilla with lychee chunks. Nothing could compare to this, but it might just be my memories overpowering my taste buds.
