Grand Lake Farmers Market

The Grand Lake Farmers Markets is across the street under the 580 overpass on Saturday mornings. Looking forward to the produce spring brings in the coming weeks. Picked up a few things to make North African Eggs this morning for breakfast.

New Digs

Finally made the move to Oakland last weekend and spent the last week unpacking and settling in. I'm committing to the one less car philosophy. Everything I need is within walking and cycling distance now. The 15 minute commute to work and having some of the best cycling roads in the East Bay practically in the backyard is a big plus. Living across the street from Lake Merritt has got its perks.

Kiraku

One of the best meals I've had in a long time. I'll let the pictures do the talking.

Duality

The Bay Area is always blessed with incredible sunsets and living here desensitizes you to their beauty, but today the sky was truly something special. The scale of the clouds today puts into perspective the grand expanse of the sky and can make you feel insignificant in the grand scale of things.

Miraie House

Miraie house was one of our AirBnB rentals in Tokyo. The owners and host of the house is a family that enjoys having international travelers in their lives. The owners worked with an architect to build a house around their lifestyle. The exposed structure with plywood, solid sawn, and glulam timber in its raw state gives the space warmth and a sense of solid stability. We spent a lot of time in Tokyo just wandering in residential neighborhoods and there is a dizzying number of radical custom homes. I recently listened to a fascinating podcast that explains why. Its worth a listen.

Breaking the cycle

I've been slipping into the dangerous cycle of monotonous routine. A sprained wrist has been keeping me off the bike so I've been driving to work for the past few weeks and sitting in traffic twice a day is a huge contributor to the downward spiral. I need some motivation to get back out exploring and shooting. Theres still a backlog of pictures from Japan that are just sitting in my Lightroom library that deserve to be posted. Looking at old travel photos makes me impatient for the next opportunity to break the cycle.

Japano

I'm diggin' this 21:9 aspect ratio. So much cinematic feels.
